| subject | object | before a noun | alone |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | me | my book | it's mine |
| you | you | your book | yours |
| he / she / it | him / her / it | his / her / its | his / hers / — |
| we | us | our | ours |
| they | them | their | theirs |
Traps: its (possessive) has no apostrophe — it's = it is / it has. their (possessive) ≠ there (place) ≠ they're (they are). “A friend of mine” = one of my friends. Whose is this? = Who does it belong to?
