The written accent matters: hablo (I speak) / habló (he spoke). Hablamos, vivimos = present or past: context decides.

-ir verbs with a stem change: change only in the 3rd person: pedir → pidió, pidieron; sentir → sintió; dormir → durmió, durmieron.

“Strong” pasts: new stem, endings without accents

Endings: -e, -iste, -o, -imos, -isteis, -ieron (tuve, tuviste, tuvo, tuvimos, tuvisteis, tuvieron).
