Question words: wer (who), was (what), wo (where), wohii (where to), woher (where from), wänn (when), wie (how), wieso / werum (why), wievill (how much / many), weli (which), was für en (what kind of).

wo does almost everything: relative pronoun (de Maa, wo …), « where » (s Huus, wo n i wohne), and « when » in the past (Won i chli gsii bi = Als ich klein war). With a Dativ or a preposition, a pronoun or da- / dr- is added: de Kolleg, wo n i mit em gredt ha (the colleague I talked with); s Huus, wo n i drin wohne (the house I live in).

Won i chli gsii bi, hämmer z Luzern gwohnt.

When I was little, we lived in Lucerne.

I gang nöd, wil i chrank bi.

I'm not going, because I'm ill.

Weisch, öb de Zug scho gfahre isch?

Das isch de Kolleg, wo n i mit em gredt ha.

That's the colleague I talked to.
