than (od, nego) poslije komparativa: Zurich is bigger than Bern (Cirih je veći od Berna). Poslije „than“ objekatska zamjenica ili cijela rečenica: taller than me / taller than I am (viši od mene).
Jednakost: as … as (isto tako … kao): She's as tall as her father. — not as / not so … as: It's not as cold as yesterday (nije tako hladno kao jučer).
Postepeno: more and more expensive (sve skuplji), bigger and bigger. Paralelno: The more you practise, the better you speak (što više vježbaš, to bolje govoriš).
Nijansiranje: much / far / a lot cheaper (mnogo jeftiniji), a bit / slightly cheaper (malo jeftiniji). the same as (isti kao), different from (drugačiji od), like (kao).
Superlativ + in za mjesta i grupe, of za periode: the tallest building in the world (najviša zgrada na svijetu), the best day of my life (najljepši dan u mom životu).
