| sujeto | complemento | delante de un sustantivo | solo |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | me | my book (mi libro) | it's mine (es mío) |
| you | you | your book | yours |
| he / she / it | him / her / it | his / her / its | his / hers / — |
| we | us | our | ours |
| they | them | their | theirs |
¿Por qué his / her? En inglés el posesivo concuerda con el poseedor, no con el objeto. El español «su» puede ser de él o de ella; el inglés lo precisa: his mother (su madre, de él), her father (su padre, de ella).
Trampas: its (posesivo) no lleva apóstrofo — it's = it is / it has. their (su, de ellos) ≠ there (allí) ≠ they're (they are). «A friend of mine» = un amigo mío. Whose is this? = ¿De quién es esto?
