Las preguntas: orden, preguntas de sujeto, preguntas indirectas

Orden básico: (palabra interrogativa) + auxiliar + sujeto + verbo. Si no hay auxiliar, se usa do / does / did.

Where are you going? (¿Adónde vas?) — What have you done? (¿Qué has hecho?) — Why did she leave? (¿Por qué se fue?) — How long does it take? (¿Cuánto tarda?)

Preguntas de sujeto: cuando who / what / which es el sujeto, no hay do / did y el orden es normal:

pregunta de sujetopregunta de complemento
Who called you? (¿Quién te llamó?)Who did you call? (¿A quién llamaste?)
What happened? (¿Qué pasó?)What did you do? (¿Qué hiciste?)

La preposición suele ir al final: Who are you talking to? (¿Con quién hablas?) Where are you from? (¿De dónde eres?) What is it about? (¿De qué trata?)

Preguntas indirectas (más corteses) tras «Can you tell me…», «Do you know…», «I wonder…»: orden de frase afirmativa, sin do / did.

Where is the station? → Can you tell me where the station is? (¿Me puede decir dónde está la estación?)
What time does it start? → Do you know what time it starts? (¿Sabe a qué hora empieza?)
Is it open? → I wonder if it's open. (Me pregunto si está abierto.)

Palabras interrogativas útiles: what, which (elección limitada), who, whose (de quién), where, when, why, how, how much (incontable), how many (contable), how often (con qué frecuencia), how long (cuánto tiempo), how far (a qué distancia), what kind of (qué tipo de).
