| forme | usage | exemple |
|---|---|---|
| will + base | décision prise sur le moment, promesse, offre, prévision (opinion) | I'll help you. (Je vais t'aider.) I think it will rain. (Je pense qu'il pleuvra.) |
| be going to + base | projet décidé avant ; prévision d'après un indice présent | I'm going to buy a car. (Je vais acheter une voiture.) Look at those clouds — it's going to rain. (Regarde ces nuages, il va pleuvoir.) |
| present continuous | rendez-vous fixé (date, personnes) | I'm meeting Tom on Friday. (Je vois Tom vendredi.) |
| present simple | horaires, programmes | The train leaves at 7:15. (Le train part à 7 h 15.) |
| futur continu : will be + -ing | en cours à un moment futur | This time tomorrow I'll be flying to Sarajevo. (Demain à cette heure-ci, je serai dans l'avion pour Sarajevo.) |
| futur antérieur : will have + participe | terminé avant un moment futur | By June I'll have finished the project. (D'ici juin, j'aurai terminé le projet.) |
Pas de will après when, as soon as, before, after, until, if — on met le présent, alors que le français met le futur : I'll call you when I arrive (je t'appellerai quand j'arriverai — pas « when I will arrive »). Call me as soon as you have finished (appelle-moi dès que tu auras fini).
shall pour proposer avec I / we : Shall I open the window? (J'ouvre la fenêtre ?) Shall we go? (On y va ?)
